Wedding Magician Oxford – Magic Your Guests Will Remember

Oxford wedding magicianMy job is to make your wedding reception more enjoyable, relaxed and memorable by getting people together. Then giving them something extraordinary to experience.

I perform close-up magic directly among your wedding guests. That might mean an impossible card trick. Borrowed object magic. Mind reading, coins, rings, money, mobile phones or something happening in a guest's own hands.

And because everything happens close up, your guests aren't sitting in rows watching a stage.

They're part of it. That's what makes close-up magic particularly effective at weddings.

Why Hire a Wedding Magician in Oxford?

Wedding days are fantastic. However they aren't always perfectly timed.

There can be delays with photographs. The wedding breakfast might take longer than expected. Guests may be waiting for the evening reception to begin. Some people know everyone at the wedding, while others have just met for the first time.

A magician can fill those little gaps beautifully.

Instead of guests standing around wondering what happens next, they can be laughing, talking and experiencing impossible magic.

And that's important.

Magic gives people something to talk about.

A guest who has just watched a card appear somewhere it absolutely shouldn't be will usually turn to the person next to them and say something along the lines of:

"Did you SEE that?"

Suddenly two people who didn't know each other five minutes ago are having a conversation.

That's one of the things I love about performing at weddings.

Wedding Magic During the Drinks Reception

The drinks reception is one of my favourite times to perform.

The ceremony has finished. Everyone is celebrating. The bride and groom are usually being photographed. The guests have time to relax with a drink.

This is where I can move naturally between groups and perform short, highly interactive pieces of magic.

There's no need for a microphone or stage.

I simply join a group, introduce myself, and get straight into the magic.

Before long, someone is holding a deck of cards. Someone else is examining a borrowed ring. Another guest is insisting that there must be a camera hidden somewhere.

There isn't. I promise.

If there were, I'd probably use it to find out who keeps eating the wedding cake before the photographs.

A Wedding Magician Can Entertain Guests During Photographs

Wedding photographs are important. Very important.

You only get one chance to photograph the bride and groom looking fabulous while everyone else tries to remember which way they're supposed to stand.

But photographs can take time.

While the bride and groom are busy having their pictures taken, wedding guests can sometimes be left waiting.

This is a perfect opportunity for close-up magic.

I can entertain the guests while the photographer gets on with the job.

That means your guests aren't standing around checking their phones, wondering when lunch is going to happen.

Instead, they're watching impossible things happen right in front of them.

And when the bride and groom return, they've still got something to talk about.

"You're not going to believe what that magician just did."

That's a pretty good result.

Wedding Magician for the Wedding Breakfast

Depending on the style of your wedding, close-up magic can also work brilliantly around the wedding breakfast.

Rather than turning the meal into a formal magic show, I can perform at suitable moments around the tables and among your guests.

The key is knowing when to perform and when to leave people to enjoy their meal.

Nobody wants a magician appearing beside them while they're attempting to eat a roast potato.

Well, almost nobody.

I keep the magic sociable, flexible and unobtrusive.

The aim is to complement your wedding day rather than take it over.

Interactive Magic for Wedding Guests

One of the biggest advantages of hiring a professional close-up magician is that the audience becomes involved.

Your guests aren't simply watching me perform. They're often holding the cards.

Or examining the objects. They're making choices and taking part.

And occasionally they're telling me exactly how they think I've done it.

They're usually wrong. But I admire the confidence.

Interactive magic works particularly well at weddings. This is because it creates shared experiences between groups of people who may not know each other particularly well.

A wedding can bring together family, friends and work colleagues. Plus people from completely different parts of your life.

Magic gives them something unexpected to share.

Wedding Magic for All Ages

One of the great things about close-up magic is that it doesn't depend on a particular age group.

Adults can enjoy it. Older relatives can enjoy it. Friends can enjoy it.

And the people who claim they don't like magic are often the ones who become determined to work out exactly how I've done something.

That's fine. I quite enjoy watching them try.

My style is very much about interaction, humour and astonishment. Rather than simply standing in front of people and demonstrating tricks.

The magic is there to create a reaction.

A laugh. A gasp. Or a moment of genuine disbelief.

And hopefully the occasional person staring at me as though I've just broken several laws of physics.

What Kind of Magic Do I Perform?

My close-up magic can include playing cards, coins, rings, borrowed objects, money, keys, elastic bands, mobile phones and mind-reading effects.

Because the magic happens close to the guests, I can adapt what I perform depending on the people I'm entertaining.

One group might love card magic. Another might become fascinated by mind reading.

Someone else might hand me a borrowed ring and immediately regret it.

Don't worry. I give it back. Usually.

The important thing is that every group gets an experience rather than simply watching the same routine repeated over and over again.

Why Choose Andy Field as Your Oxford Wedding Magician?

When you hire a wedding magician, you're not simply paying someone to know a few tricks.

You're trusting that person to interact with your friends and family on one of the most important days of your life.

Experience matters.

I've spent a quarter of a century performing close-up magic for real people in real situations.

I've performed at weddings, parties, corporate events, restaurants and private celebrations. Plus I've learned that being a good magician is only part of the job.

You also need to be reliable. You need to read a room.

It's important to know when to approach a group and when to leave them alone for a while. Then try again later.

You need to be comfortable talking to complete strangers.

And, preferably, you need to be able to make people laugh without making the bride regret booking you.

I've also built up a substantial online following. With more than 20 million YouTube views. Hundreds of five-star reviews and hundreds of Facebook recommendations.

So you're not taking a complete gamble by letting a bloke with a deck of cards loose at your wedding.

Wedding Magician Oxford – Making Your Wedding More Memorable

The best wedding entertainment isn't necessarily the biggest or loudest.

Sometimes it's the small moments that people remember.

A guest watching their own signed card appear somewhere impossible.

A borrowed ring vanishing and reappearing.

Two people trying to work out how something happened right in front of them.

A group of wedding guests laughing together because nobody can explain what they've just seen.

Those moments become part of the story of the day.

And that's exactly what I want to create.
