Professional Party Magician Bath

Professional party magician Andy Field, providing close-up magic and entertainment for adult parties and celebrations in Bath.

If you're looking for a party magician in Bath, you're probably not after someone who simply stands at the front of the room and performs a few tricks.

You want a magician who can walk around, mix with your guests and create those brilliant moments.

Moments where everyone suddenly stops talking because something impossible is happening right in front of them.

That's exactly where I come in. If you're looking for a close-up magician in Bath, that's precisely the type of entertainment I provide.

A Professional Party Magician in Bath

Magician Andy Field, who has extensively consulted for the BBC drama Hustle, known for its portrayal of confidence tricks and deception.

I'm Andy Field. A professional close-up magician specialising in magic for adult parties, private celebrations, weddings and corporate events. I have also extensively consulted for the BBC drama "Hustle".

I've spent a quarter of a century of experience performing close-up magic for real people at real events. Rather than simply learning tricks in front of a mirror and hoping for the best!

I've also received hundreds of five-star reviews and have had more than 20 million views on YouTube. So I suppose I've had a few people watch me perform by now.

My style is comedic and interactive. I don't just perform at your guests. I get involved with them.

For more information about the different types of magic I perform, you can read my guide to close-up magic explained.

Why Hire a Magician for a Party in Bath?

One of the biggest advantages of close-up magic is that it doesn't require a stage, complicated equipment or everyone sitting silently facing the same direction.

I can move around the party and perform for small groups of people. I perform mainly standing. However I can also perform seated.

A group might see cards appearing, coins disappearing, borrowed objects doing things they definitely shouldn't be doing.

Or even mind reading that leaves people wondering whether I've somehow been listening to their thoughts.

Then I move on to another group and do it all again.

This makes close-up magic particularly effective at parties because the entertainment comes to the guests.

People can continue chatting, eating and enjoying themselves while magic happens around them.

And, rather importantly, it gives your guests something to talk about.

If you're particularly interested in card magic, I've written a detailed guide to Card Trick Magician Bath, exploring the sleight of hand, psychology and presentation that turn a simple deck of cards into impossible moments.

Party Magic That Gets People Talking

The best reaction to a magic trick isn't necessarily screaming or shouting.

Sometimes it's that wonderful moment of silence when someone is staring at their own hand because they have absolutely no idea how the object got there.

That's one of the things I love about close-up magic. There's nowhere to hide.

You're standing a couple of feet away from me. You can see my hands. You can examine the cards. You can lend me your own belongings.

And yet somehow the impossible happens.

I perform with cards, coins, money, keys, rings, elastic bands, phones and everyday objects. I also interweave mind-reading and psychological magic into my act.

There's also a fascinating psychological side to magic. My article on psychology in magic looks at some of the ways magicians use perception, expectation and psychology to influence what an audience experiences.

You can also read more about how misdirection works in magic if you're interested in discovering how magicians can make you look directly at something while completely missing what is happening.

A Party Magician for Adult Celebrations

Performing close up magic at a party for the family of Les Dennis

I specialise in performing for adults. So my party magic isn't children's entertainment dressed up with a few grown-up jokes.

Whether you're organising a birthday party, anniversary party, engagement party, Christmas celebration, dinner party or another private event in Bath, I can tailor the performance to suit the occasion.

I also provide entertainment as a corporate magician in Bath for businesses and corporate events

The beauty of close-up magic is that it works particularly well when people don't all know each other.

A magician can be a surprisingly good ice-breaker.

Imagine two guests who have never met standing together watching me perform a trick with one of their phones. Within seconds they're laughing, talking and trying to work out what has just happened.

I've done the difficult bit.

I've given them something to talk about.

I also specialise in bespoke performances for anniversary parties through Bath and the surrounding areas.

Bath Party Magic Without the Stress

Whether you're organising a birthday party, engagement party, Christmas celebration, dinner party or another private event in Bath, I can tailor the performance to suit the occasion.

You will have a lot to plan and think about. The venue, food and drinks.

Probably seventeen other things that seemed like a good idea when you started organising the event.

The last thing you want is an entertainer who needs a complicated setup. Or expects you to organise everyone into rows of chairs.

That's not how I work. I arrive, meet you and your guests, and get involved in the party.

There's no stage required and no need for your guests to stop what they're doing. For events where guests are seated around tables, table-top magic in Bath can be particularly effective.

I can perform during a reception, between courses, while people are enjoying drinks. Or throughout the main part of the celebration.

If you're also considering magic specifically for a wedding in Bath, I've written more about being a wedding magician in Bath.

What Makes My Party Magic Different?

Andy Field chatting and engaging with guests at a private party in Bath.

I think a good party magician needs more than good tricks.

Obviously, the magic has to be strong.

But you also need personality, timing, humour and the ability to read a room.

Not every group reacts in the same way.

Some are fascinated by the psychology.

Some immediately announce that they know exactly how the trick works.

They usually don't.

And occasionally someone will confidently explain the method to everyone else before I've even finished.

They're normally wrong as well. That's part of the fun.

My job isn't simply to perform a trick. It's to create a memorable experience for the people watching it.

For smaller, more intimate gatherings, I also offer parlour magic in Bath bringing the atmosphere of a traditional magic show into a more intimate setting.

A lot of what makes close-up magic possible comes down to technique, timing and sleight of hand.

One classic example is the Cups and Balls, a routine that demonstrates just how deceptive close-up magic can be.

If you're planning a party in Bath and want something a little different from the usual entertainment, close-up magic can be a fantastic addition. If you're wondering how much a Bath magician costs, I've written a separate guide covering the subject.

It doesn't dominate the room or require a stage.

It doesn't interrupt the party. I simply appear among your guests and gives them something impossible to experience together.

I'm available for private parties and celebrations throughout Bath and the surrounding area.

After all, anyone can put music on at a party.

It's a little harder to make someone's borrowed £20 note disappear while they're holding it.
