It combines some of the intimacy of close-up magic with the structure and shared experience of a larger performance.

And yes, there will probably be at least one person who thinks they know exactly how it's done.

There usually is.

How Is Parlour Magic Different From Close-Up Magic?

With traditional close-up magic, I move from group to group.

I might perform at a drinks reception, around tables or while guests are waiting for photographs.

Parlour magic works differently.

Instead of performing separately for lots of small groups, I can bring a larger number of people together and perform for them collectively.

The magic can still be highly interactive.

Guests can make decisions, examine objects, handle cards and become involved in what is happening. The difference is that everyone gets to experience the same performance.
